My Journey Journal Week 12
Building My Own Fitness Plan
Hello there and welcome to week 12 (okay, 14…) of My Journey Journal! It’s been a couple of weeks since I posted one of these. I can make some excuse about work people stressful or not having enough time or something, but that’s not really what happened. Honestly, my anxiety has been pretty bad lately and I needed to take a small break from my blog. I hope that’s okay with you! I’m always way more active on my Instagram if you want to drop by and see what I’m up to.
This week, I really wanted to focus on doing what was best for my fitness. I switched personal trainers, joined a new gym, started taking some new group classes, and tried some different at-home workouts to see what I really liked. Now I’m sitting down to create a fitness plan for the month. Let’s go through it together:
I Tried a Bunch of New Stuff Last Month
So last month, I was kind of set free from my weight loss routine and left to fend for myself in the fitness world. I’m not saying it was an easy thing to do, but I’m glad I took the month off from getting personal training to really figure out what worked for me and what didn’t. Here’s what I tried out last month:
- Pop Pilates
- Planking every day
- 2 New Zumba classes
- Running (on the treadmill)
- Exercise machines
I Picked What Workouts I Liked Best
Most of those workouts were really fun – the first few times that I did them. But by the end of the month, I was only looking forward to a couple of fitness routines a week and started slacking on going to the gym or working out at all. That’s no good!
So, from that list, I picked a few of my favorites (Zumba, Core work, and Pound!) and threw out the rest (well, minus the running. I’m still going to make running happen).
I Made a Plan
Using my absolutely wonderful design skills (HA!), I made a workout plan template (free download coming soon!) From there, I scheduled out when my classes met, when my new personal trainer and I were set to meet, and filled in the gaps with strength training and treadmill interval runs (ugh). Then I printed out the workout plan and posted it on my wall for me to see every day.
So Far, So Good
This was my first week of trying out my home-made fitness plan, and it went really well! The classes are fun, my new trainer is awesome, and I have once again successfully reignited my fitness flame. Hopefully this plan will quickly turn into a routine that I can stick to for a good long while.
So that’s what I’ve been up to fitness wise this past week. I’m hoping to keep these plans for at least six weeks this time around, so fingers crossed that will work out!
