Showing People You Can
My Journey Journal Week 9
Hello there and welcome to another edition to my journey journal! These are easily my favorite weekly posts to make (which probably why they are still the only ones I am consistent on… Oops!), so I am so glad that you are here! Today is a bit of a special edition to my journey journal because (drum roll please…) I have officially lost 20 pounds! Woo! This journal entry is all about showing people that you can do whatever you set your mind to. Those people, of course, include yourself. So let’s get started!
I Lost 20 Pounds!
This took a while. With all of the stress going on in my personal life, I was having a hard time losing those last five or so pounds. But I finally did it! As of this morning, I am down 20.5 lbs.
As always, I want to clarify that weight loss is not my top goal with this journey. It’s all about becoming my best self. Becoming physically fit and losing a few pounds is a part of that journey, but I refuse to believe that weight loss is the age-all end-all for my problems, because it isn’t. There’s so much more to life than having a skinny or even a fit body.
It’s all about experiences for me, and if losing some weight is part of that experience or helps in that experience, then so be it. There’s so much beyond the scale that I have to offer to the world, and so much that I want to do. It’s important for me to remember that.
Anyways, here’s to the next 20 pounds or so!
I Finally Switched Gyms
Seriously, I talked so much about this gym switch, I bet everyone is tired of hearing it. But I’m finally starting to get settled over in my new workout space.
It’s definitely not anything like my old gym. It tailors to a totally different crowd and is a lot smaller, but I can make it work. I do think I’m going to start doing some body weight workouts at home though. The weight room in my new gym is just too small. I feel like with any more than a couple of people in that room at any given moment, we’d break everything. Oh well!
I’m a big fan of bodyweight exercises anyways. I started my first ever journey into fitness doing only bodyweight workouts and walking a lot, so I’m familiar and already know what works for me. It’ll be fun!
Apparently I Inspired Others?!
I found this quote somewhere on the internet a few days ago and had to write it down:
“Be strong. You never know who you are inspiring.”
That’s honestly how I felt while getting starting working out. I touched on this last week, but at my old gym over the past few weeks, six different people came up to me while I was working out. They all said that they noticed me in there working hard a lot, that they are proud of what I’ve done so far, and that I have inspired them to keep going when they didn’t want to be there.
I had no idea that other people who I didn’t know were taking that much notice of me at the gym.
Before I started this journey, I was so shy about working out. I never wanted anyone else seeing what I was doing with my health and fitness. But now, I feel like I’m in this with a huge support system behind me, fully cheering me on. And that feels absolutely amazing.
So remember: even if you don’t think what you’re doing is important, it is. People are taking notice. People are being motivated by the energy you are putting out there. Keep being inspiring.
Alright, that’s it for this week’s My Journey Journal. If you want to keep up to date with whenever I post, be sure to sign up for my email list! I am now four months into this journey and can’t be happier. Let’s keep these good energies up. Tell me in the comments below what your favorite inspirational quote is.
