Who Am I? What Am I Becoming?

Who Am I? What Am I Becoming?

An All-About-Me Introductory Post

So, as this blog is still relatively new in the grand scheme of things, I thought that it might be a good idea to introduce myself, the writer and keeping of the Becoming Jordan Blog. I also thought this post could be a great entry to look back in in a year, five years, a decade, etc. to see what’s changed, what’s stayed the same, and all of that good stuff. So, that just leaves the question…

Who am I?

I am… An Adventurer

My absolute favorite thing to do in the world is go on road trips. I love just picking somewhere on the map and driving off into the distance. My ultimate dream in life is to be able to travel the world, experience different cultures, and blog all about it. I’m not the type of person who can do the same thing over and over again every single day. I need to be experiencing new things every chance I get. I want to see as much of this world that I can while I’m here in it.

I am… An Avid Tea Drinker

If anyone every gives me tea, they automatically become my best friend. Seriously, tea makes my world go ‘round. I have my Yerba Mate in the morning, some flavored black, green, or white tea in the afternoon, and Lavender Chamomile in the evening. It is my favorite routine of the day and something that I look forward to every morning. I’m honestly pretty sure that at this point, 85% of me is made of tea.

I am… A Plus Sized Woman

And as a plus sized woman, I have a different take on a few things. Take fashion for instance, I can tell you all the differences between straight sized clothing (clothes you’d find in-store at Old Navy or Macy’s that generally range from a size 0 to 14) and plus sized clothing (and there is a LOT of differences). I can also tell you about how awkward it is to eat out at a restaurant and have random women come up to me and show me healthy menu items (yeah, that’s actually happened to me before). But on the positive side, there are some pretty darn great plus size stores to shop at nowadays, and I take full advantage of them.

I am… A Virtual Assistant/Social Media Manager

So, I’m fascinated with social media. It all started with wanting to make a YouTube Channel (videos to come soon I hope) and how the dynamics behind getting views, subscribers, and creating quality content worked. I remember a few months ago, I would spend hours upon hours watching every video and taking every free course I could get my hands on just doing research. I’d take copious amounts of notes (I’m on giant notebook number 3 now) and go over the main concepts of what I’d learned every night. Then I moved on to learning about Instagram, and then Twitter. Now, I’ve been able to take all that learning and become a sort of “professional” on the matter. It’s a lot of work, but definitely a lot of fun work. If you want to see more of that, check out my Virtual Assistance Twitter. I’m pretty active on there.

I am… A Person with Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Hey, you know what’s super fun? Panic attacks. You know what’s even more fun? When you don’t have an exact trigger and they just kind of randomly happen. SO. FUN. But no, I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder about two years ago, and there’s a big long story about everything I did to try and make it easier for myself to live with. Now, I’m doing pretty alright with all of it. I exercise a lot in order to manage it and that seems to be working out pretty well.

I am… A Business Nerd

Let me explain, I did not go to college for business, I don’t know much about stocks or policy or anything like that. However, everything else involved with business is totally my jam. I will buy TONS of totally unnecessary office supplies all the time, study biz growth and management in my spare time just for fun, and could start my own library with all of the different business-related books that I own. It’s sort of ridiculous at this point.

I am… A Planner

Going off my love for learning business things and my odd obsession with office supplies, I also absolutely love planning things! Events, vacations, parties… I love getting into the nitty gritty details of making all of them happen. I’ve held some pretty awesome parties at my parents’ house when I was a young adult if I do say so myself. I’m talking about writing scripts for murder mystery parties, competitions complete with team t-shirts, all of the good stuff. It’s just a fun little past time have.

I am… An Elephant Lover

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that my office/bedroom is entirely full of elephant stuff. I have elephant coffee cups, elephant paintings, elephant stationary, elephant bookends… The list goes on and on. Yeah, I’m one of THOSE people. But all of my elephant accessories do come from my love of the real animals. If I could do anything (while traveling the world) in this life, I would be so incredibly stinkin’ happy if I could pet an elephant. That would be just too amazing.

I am… Caring

I have a REALLY big heart. If you tell me your story, I will be moved by it. I want to make this world do better and become better. I would love to get involved with some charity fundraisers and help others find different organizations to volunteer in. A lot has happened in these past couple of weeks that make sharing kindness and loving others even more important. I want to share my knowledge of

opportunities with others who like to spend their time doing so. More on this later though.

I also just really want to help people. If you are having a bad day or need someone to talk to, don’t be afraid to DM me on Twitter or Instagram or email me here. I’ll see it and I will respond as soon as I possibly can. Much love to you if you’re going through something.

I am… A Lover of Milkshakes and Smoothies

Everyone’s got there one go-to guilty food pleasure, right? Well mine are without-a-doubt milkshakes and smoothies. I could seriously eat these things for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I’m looking into making my own milkshake and smoothie recipes now. I really like knowing exactly what’s in them and precisely how healthy or unhealthy I’m being. Plus, the more recipes I try, the better I can make my own smoothies and shakes.20151217_021813000_ios

I am… A Disney Fan

So this is actually how I got in to reading blogs in the first place. The first ever blog I read was all about how Disneyland changes for the holidays. After that, the first ever vlog I watched was from a Cast Member at Disneyland talking about how she started working there. I think a good Disney story has its place in just about every family home and love all that Disney magic stuff that goes along with the company. In fact, for a very short while, I even worked for Walt Disney World. There’s definitely something special to say about Walt Disney’s legacy.

So that’s a Little Bit about Who I am, but Who Do I Want to Become?

I spoke a little bit about my future goals throughout this post, but I have many more that go deeper than “traveling elephant hugger.” I want to:

  • Get my Masters in Social Work and help lead the world with policy for cyberbullying and similar fields.
  • Learn how to actually dance and be sincerely graceful, rather than the clunky pink hippo from Fantasia that I currently am.
  • Write a fiction novel and get it published.
  • Start owning my personal style instead of tailoring all of my fashion and makeup choices to those around me
  • And of course, becoming a travelling elephant hugger.

So, there you go! That’s a little bit more about who I am and who I want to become in the future. I truly think that everything on this list is possible for me to reach at some point, but I guess I will see where the world takes me. Now I just have to start making a plan for how to do all of this stuff.

Until next time!
